Ultraviolet (UV) Quartz Sleeves, Lamps, & Systems

What are the benefits of installing an Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system and how will I know which size of system is right for my home’s water needs?

Installing a UV disinfection system offers chemical-free way to treat your home’s water supply, effectively killing a wide range of harmful microorganisms that may be present in your water supply.

To choose the right size, you will need to determine your home’s maximum flow rate, daily water volume used, and overall water quality to ensure the system can deliver an adequate UV dose for effective disinfection.

If you are still not sure where to start, please call one of our Customer Service Representatives so that they can assist you in finding the correct sized system.

Why would someone want to use a UV system? Is it necessary to use a UV system whenever you filter your water?

Typically someone would want to install a UV system if their water supply has been compromised and may contain harmful viruses and pathogens. One of the top reasons you may want to install UV system is so that your water remains free of harmful viruses and pathogens and remains safe for consumption.

It’s especially important to have a UV system if you own a private well or if you store your drinking water in a storage tank so that the UV system can help to purify your water and deactivate any viruses or bacteria, without the need for disinfection via chemical disinfectants.

Ultraviolet filtration is a great (and safer) alternative to chemical disinfection in most cases.

Tankless Reverse Osmosis (RO) System

How is the USWF Tankless RO system different from other reverse osmosis systems?

Our USWF 600GPD Tankless Undersink RO System has a high flow 600GPD membrane that is capable of filling an 8oz glass in just 9 seconds. Without the need for a water storage tank like a traditional undersink RO system, you gain the ability to use as much RO water as you’d like (without the risk of depleting the water storage tank down to a trickle).

Removing the storage tank also eliminates the chore of cleaning the RO tank, and the risk of secondary contamination from an unsanitized tank.

With our USWF Tankless RO system, the slim tankless design will take up 50% less space than a traditional RO system, making it a great option for households that may have undersink space restrictions.

What’s the difference between a tankless and tank reverse osmosis systems?

In a standard tank reverse osmosis system, once your drinking water goes through the RO membrane and is purified, it will be stored in storage tank until it’s ready for consumption. Once that storage tank is empty, you would need to wait for a tank ro system to refill the storage tank before you would be able to get a glass of water.

With a tankless RO system, there is no need for the water to be held in a storage tank as it’s demand generated based on use- you can get purified water anytime you want, without having to wait for the storage tank to fill.

Do I need a plumber to install this, or can I install this myself?

Our Tankless RO unit will typically be installed under your kitchen sink and is a relatively easy project for any regular Do-It-Yourselfer. Keep in mind during the installation that it’s important to install it in a location that is easily accessible for regular maintenance and cleaning purposes. If you have basic plumbing skills, you should be able to easily install the USWF Tankless RO system yourself.

You’ll need the following tools for the installation of your USWF Tankless RO system:
– Teflon tape
-screwdriver
-wrench
-tube cutter
– flashlight
– paper towels
– electric drill

If you are hesitant to give your plumbing skills a try or don’t know where to begin, you may find it easier to hire an experienced plumber to handle the task of installation for you.

Which contaminants does your USWF Tankless RO system remove?

The 1st stage Composite Filter functions to reduce sediment, rust, suspended solids, and large particles, as well as filters VOCs, chlorine, organic matter, colors, odors, and improves the taste.

The 2nd stage RO Membrane functions to filter dissolved solids, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloids, and bacteria.

What if my home has low water pressure? Will your Tankless RO still work for me?

The tankless RO is a great option for homes with low water pressure! Our Tankless RO can operate down to 15 PSI.

Residential homes really shouldn’t have less than 15 PSI in their home, and it may be an indication of a possible plumbing problem. If you’re noticing that your homes water pressure is 15 PSI or lower, it’s a sign that your home has extremely poor water pressure. This may also be an indicator that something could be significantly wrong with your home’s plumbing. It may be helpful to consult a professional plumber to assist you in determining the root cause of your low water pressure prior to installing any water filtration systems.

How often do the the filters need replacement?

The 1st stage Composite Filter functions to reduce sediment, rust, suspended solids, and large particles, as well as filters VOCs, chlorine, organic matter, colors, odors, and improves the taste. The 1st Stage Composite Filter will need to be replaced once a year (which is equivalent to replacing it every 12 months).
The 2nd stage RO Membrane functions to filter dissolved solids, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloids, and bacteria. This 2nd Stage RO Membrane will need to be replaced once every two years (which is equivalent to once every 24 months).

Can the reverse osmosis system be used for hard water?

It is recommended when your home has hard water to install a water softener system in your home to negate the negative effects of hard water on your fixtures and appliances, as well as to prolong the life of your Tankless RO system (and its filters).

If you have hard water, it’s possible it may lead to mineral scale build-up, which can make it extremely difficult for your RO’s membrane to function at peak performance – this may result in the membrane needing to be replaced sooner.

What happens if my system has a leak?

Your USWF Tankless RO system is equipped with a smart alarm that sounds when any water leakage is detected by the system for at least 3 seconds. This alarm will execute and then the filter indicator lights along with the LED faucet will flash red – the system will also beep for 3 minutes.

Once the water leak is addressed and the system is dried, the USWF Tankless RO will automatically return to its normal state (and the alarm will reset so that it can notify you of any other water leaks in the future).

Where can I find the user manual?

Once purchased, your USWF Tankless RO system will arrive with a printed copy of the user’s instruction manual.

You can also access this instructional guide on the product page, here.

What should I do if I am going out of town and do not plan to use my USWF Tankless RO system for an extended period of time?

If your USWF Tankless RO system will not be used for an extended period of time (about one month or longer), it is a good idea to drain the water from the system. You can do this by opening the drinking water faucet, closing the inlet supply valve, and then letting the system run for 2-3 minutes until water stops flowing from the faucet. Then disconnect the power supply until you return.

If the RO system will not be used for more than one week, take out the filter cartridges, seal them with plastic wrap, and store the filter cartridges in a refrigerator (do not put it in the freezer compartment) to reduce the breeding of bacteria. When the filters are re-installed, flush water through the system for 10 minutes to ensure the filters are ready for use again.
