Sizing Guide
The most important factor to consider when sizing a Pool UV System is to ensure that the pool pump’s flow rate does not exceed the Maximum flow rate of the UV system. Because UV does not create any disinfection byproducts there is very little drawback to oversizing the pool UV system, so we recommend going with a larger system if you are unsure.
Most pool pumps are sized to turnover the volume of the pool once per day in 8-12 hours. You can calculate the max pool capacity of a Pool UV system with the following formula:
System Flow Rate (GPM) * 60 (Minutes / Hour) * (Hours / turnover) = Max pool capacity in gallons.
Example calculation for the USWF-H4-PL with an 8 and 12 hour turnovers:
82 (GPM) *60 (Minutes/ Hour) * 8 (Hour turnover) = 30,240 gallon pool
82 (GPM) *60 (Minutes/ Hour) * 12 (Hour turnover) = 59,040 gallon pool
